Well hallelujah….finally a web site up and running! I am so thrilled that you came to visit. I hope you enjoy all the pieces here and be sure to check back often to see the new ones. My goal is to put up no less than one new piece a week.
With the ice slowly melting and the earth thawing out gradually, it won’t be long till we are out painting again….ahhh…plein air! For those of you new to the art lingo, plein air is a French word that simply means “out of doors”. Plein air painters take their supplies with them outside into the various wonders of nature, set up and paint. Fred, my mentor and teacher has always stressed the significance of ‘blocking in fast” while you are outside so you have time to capture the light just as you want it…
With that being said, many of us painters have been taking the high road and painting in our studios where it is warm and we can control the light. I know during these winter months many of us paint from photo’s which is fun too and keeps us busy painting.
I am so looking forward to getting out on my hikes, camping and back outdoors if only to take my camera for some great snapshots to use later. And my pooch Sammie…oh he cannot wait either!
